Spartan Combat Equipment was established in 2008 in Auckland, NZ. Spartan is proudly New Zealand owned and operated.

We are designers and suppliers of high quality grappling dummies and boxing bags for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).  

What is MMA?

Mixed Martial Arts is a full contact combat sport. It uses striking and grappling from in both standing and ground techniques. It covers styles such as Grappling, Wrestling, BJJ, Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Karate and Judo.   

How did we come about?

In 2002 Duane Riley looked around for a grappling dummy to complement his own training. He found the equipment was expensive and hard to buy in New Zealand. By using Kiwi know how his first dummy was born. Spurred on by success, Duane set about taking ideas also from traditional boxing bags to produce more interactive equipment for faster gains when training alone.  

Our goals are simple: to design and build innovative Mixed Martial Arts grappling dummies and boxing bags that help you, the modern fighter achieve your goals. 

Our products have been sold and used in MMA gyms, proving they can take the punishment.
